Dave Childs has been a working pianist and teacher for over 30 years. He has taught diverse student populations from basic to advanced classical, jazz and pop. Dave has been adjunct professor at Fairfield University for over 15 years and maintains a busy private teaching schedule. Dave’s approach to teaching is a comprehensive one that includes not only traditional technique, theory and literature but also ear training and music appreciation in order to produce a well rounded musician.
Richard Brooks has taught at Wooster School in Danbury for many years and continues to teach privately. His conducting stints have included long-term engagements with the Danbury Community Orchestra, the Cheshire Symphony Orchestra and the Norwalk Youth Symphony Concert Orchestra. He has also guest conducted for middle and high school music festivals in Connecticutt as well as in Westchester and Putnam counties in New York.
Larry Deming teaches at the Hotchkiss School and Kent School. He has been director of the Summer Strings Program at the Danbury Music Center since 2002. Larry received a B.S. Degree with Distinction from Indiana University School Of Music in 1981. He played violin with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra for seven years, the Springfield Symphony Orchestra for nine years, was Concertmaster of the Danbury Symphony for five years and is first violinist of the Deming String Quartet.Mr.Deming has played with many musical luminaries and he loves to arrange, compose, conduct, perform and teach many types of music.
Paula Gallo is a vocal and piano instructor and works with clients in lyric writing and composition. She loves what she does. She has been involved in music since before taking piano lessons at the age 8. Studying with Ruth Manning of Westport, CT, Paula then went on to minor in piano at Syracuse University.Paula is a certified Music Together instructor for toddlers and infants (a well recognized program out of Princeton University. Ms. Gallo is an accomplished vocalist who sings with her popular Connecticut-based rock bands, The Paula G Reality and The 5 O’clocks. She has performed at the Samsung Experience in NYC, the Palace Theater in Danbury and with Band Together at the Gathering of the Vibes and has performed at Fairfield Theatre Company.
Mike Godette received BM in Jazz Studies from West Conn University. He has been teaching guitar, piano and drums for 10 years and has creative approaches to help his students play the music they love in no time. He plays guitar in his progressive rock band, Mid Atlantic Title and performs all over the Conn/New York area.
Mike Jones has been performing and teaching for over 30 years and is a graduate of Berklee College of Music. A songwriter and composer, Mike, with his band Red Radio Flyer released two albums on Motherwest Records in NYC winning a Villiage Voice Pazz and Jop award for best single and has composed scores and songs for numerous animated short films shown in festivals around the world. Since moving to Wilton, CT in 2001, Mike has focused on teaching. Mike tailors his lessons to each students needs and goals, learning the music they love, and mastering the skills and knowledge needed to become well rounded musicians.
Kathleen Kruze is a life-long music teacher with a wealth of experience. Being an accomplished composer of original music, she has recently produced two full-length CDs which are available on iTunes. She has taught all styles of guitar technique at Kent School in Kent, CT (2007-2015) and piano and guitar at South Kent High School (2010-2015.) Among the diverse positions held, Kruze was Director of the Children’s Choir at Saint Marguerite Church in Brookfield,CT from 1995 till 2005. She is known for her warmth, patience and a compassionate approach to teaching students of all ages. Additionally, she has taught private students for the past 20 years throughout Fairfield County. Kathleen was Director of Music Ministry at Western Connecticut State University from 2005-2007.
Matt Moadel received a Bachelor of Art in Music from Western Connecticut State University under the tutelage of Dave Smith. He has performed and recorded with many artists spanning multiple genres. Mr Moadel has 16 years teaching experience. His instructional style is flexible and tailored to fit the needs and learning styles of his students; ensuring that each develops the skills and knowledge necessary to achieve the desired musical goals.
Richard Wyton has appeared on both modern and historical flutes as a chamber music player and soloist. He has performed at venues including Wolf Trap, Music Mountain, Caramoor and the Connecticut Early Music Festival and can be heard on the Arabesque, CRI, Epiphany and MRS labels. Wyton teaches instrumental music at Cider Mill School in Wilton, CT.
Jamie composes, produces and performs on piano and trumpet and has been a music educator for more than 20 years. His playing credits are myriad and diverse, having recorded, toured and performed all over the world with many great jazz and blues artists including the late great Ella Fitzgerald, Jim Hall, Geri Mulligan, Phil Guy and Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown. Jamie is the son of Grammy nominated composer/arranger Bill Finegan. The traditions of music is a strong theme in all of Mr. Finegan’s endeavors.
Martha Lind has been performing and teaching for over 30 years. Ms Lind holds a Bachelor’s degree in piano performance and has performed in a variety of venues including cruise ships, concert stages, country clubs and restaurants. A native of Philadelphia, Ms Lind has a background in classical music, jazz, rock, blues and pop, and currently performs as a soloist and ensemble player member throughout the New York/ Connecticut area.
Darilyn Manring is a graduate of Illinois State University, Yale University School of Music, and Boston University, where she earned a Doctorate in Musical arts. Dr.Manring has performed throughout the United States, as well as in Brazil, and held academic positions at the University of Wyoming, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, University of Bridgeport, Sacred Heart University and Northwestern State University of Louisiana.Currently principal cellist with the Greater Bridgeport and Wallingford Symphonies, she has been instructing young musicians for over 40 years. Manring teaches at Wilton High School, Middlebrook School, the Wilton Conservatory, and is a coach for the Greater Bridgeport YouthOrchestra.
Kamilla Sonkin is a graduate of the Tallet-Kelpshi Academy of Music in Vilnius, Lithuania and Northwestern University in Evanston, Il, where she received her Masters degree. Ms. Sonkin has performed in Europe and the United States, including appearances on Lithuanian television and as a ballet accompanist with Chicago ballet companies, recording “Beethoven for ballet”. Her private instruction includes teaching at the Music Arts School, Highland Park, IL., Westchester Conservatory of Music, White Plains, N/Y. Center Music School, Stamford, Ct, Wilton Conservatory of Music and Fairfield University.
Mark Swigart is a graduate of University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a Bachelor of Arts in Performance. Mark also holds a Master of Arts Education from the University of St. Joseph in Hartford, Ct. Mr Swigart has toured with the Drifters, the Four Tops, the Angels and Billy Eckstein, has been part of jazz tours in Europe and Japan, and is founding member of the New York City Swing Band. Mr Swigart is also a BMI recording artist.
George Whetstone studied viola at the Hartt School of Music and Western Connecticut State University. His festival affiliations have included work with the Manhattan String Quartet and residencies at Music Mountain and the Aspen Music Festival. Mr. Whetstone has performed in orchestras including the Mexican City Opera, the American Chamber Orchestra, Albany Symphony, Ridgefield Symphony, Sarasota Opera, Metro Lyric Opera, New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players and the Garden State Philharmonic.
