Our Director

Our Director, Barbara Wyton, founded and directed the Wilton Conservatory of Music for over 25 years. She served as an Instrumental Music Teacher at Cider Mill School in the Wilton Public Schools for 34 years. Barbara is the director of Continuo Music, LLC, continuo.net, a music service company, and parent organization of Music at Home.

What are the benefits of studying music at a young age?

Learning an instrument is a great way to teach a child responsibility, discipline, and hard work. Your child will learn how to practice to improve a tangible skill and art-form, while having fun! Music is also a form of self-expression and can be an incredibly valuable way for young children to express themselves.

What is the cancellation and rescheduling policy for lessons?

Lessons must be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice.

How is payment handled?

Continuo accepts checks and credit cards. Invoices are emailed at the end of each month.

How long is each lesson?

Most teachers offer 30, 45 and 60 min lessons. Some offer 90 minute options as well. Contact us for more information.

Do you offer a trial period?

Teachers offer trial lessons. It is advisable for the student to sign up for at least a couple lessons to give the teacher and student a chance to balance instructional needs and expectations.

What equipment is required for online lessons?

You will need a computer or tablet with a webcam and a high-speed internet connection. More information on setting up an effective remote learning environment is available on the blog page.

What areas are home lessons available?

Fairfield, Litchfield and New Haven counties in Connecticut.

When are teachers available to teach home lessons?

All times of the day on weekdays. Many of our teachers maintain weekend schedules as well.

Are there performance opportunities for students?

Students have the opportunity to perform in regularly scheduled recitals. These are presented in Redding area venues and are available to student families.
